Originally from Southern Maine, Jared grew up the youngest of three boys, which means hand me down bikes were a part of his childhood . A passion for bicycles was born then, fixing and rebuilding them into rideable bikes.  In college, Jared worked for L.L Bean selling bicycles and learning about bike shop culture. After attending Unity College in Maine and earning a bachelor’s degree in Adventure Education and Leadership, Jared moved to Bar Harbor to work as a Sea Kayak Guide and manage a local bike rental shop.  Jared has been a resident on Mount Desert Island for many years and has lived a life filled with cycling, hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities.  Being part of the island community is something Jared is grateful for and doesn’t take for granted.

Jared enjoys sharing his knowledge of Acadia National Park and the outdoors. He is also a registered Maine guide and has experience leading multiple types of tours on Mount Desert Island and in the state of Maine. He is excited to be a part of The  Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop and continue the legacy of being “The” Bike Shop of Bar Harbor Maine. Jared hopes to see you in the shop during your visit to Bar Harbor, If not in the shop he’ll see ya on the trail.

My name is Tighe (pronounced like the end of “fatigue”). I have been with the Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop since 2021. I have been repairing bikes since I was 14 years old. I grew up in Portland, Oregon where my first exposure to cycling culture was regularly commuting. From there, my passion for cycling transitioned to long distance self-supported touring. I have ridden across the US/Canada 4 different times as well as several smaller adventures. I was drawn to Bar Harbor for a short stint at College of the Atlantic and started work at the bike shop shortly after. Now I manage the repair shop. I enjoy being able to help other adventures as well as locals with their bicycle repair needs.

My name is Blake Berry and I’m from Southern Maine. I am a mechanic at the shop. I’m currently a student at College of Atlantic and have been with The Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop since 2022. I have years of experience in the car industry working on racecars and street rods since a young age. I specialize in custom builds and am in the process of custom fabricating my own line of bicycles. If it has two wheels I’ll ride it. I like to ride a wide variety of bikes and riding styles. In my free time I like to go climbing and hiking around Acadia.

My name is Sean Smith and I’m from Jacksonville, FL. I got into bikes through a friend from college. He was into vintage bikes and encouraged me to get one so we could commute to work together. Doing so opened my eyes to viewing bikes as more than just for kids and athletes, but as a means for fun and practical transportation. This led me to becoming a bike mechanic while living in Las Vegas, NV. And as chance would have it, the new owner of The Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop, Peter, came into the Vegas shop and asked me if I knew anyone that would want to move to Maine for the summer and work at the shop up there. I saw it as a golden opportunity and seized it. I enjoyed the shop and community so much I decided to extend the offer and haven’t looked back.
